DR. ANTHONY (TONY) P. CULLEN
Canadian Association of Optometrists is represented on the AMD Alliance International Board of Directors by Dr. Anthony Cullen.
Dr. Cullen is an honour graduate of the Department of Optometry and Visual Science and received a Ph.D. in Visual Science and Radiation Biology at City University, London. He is a former Director of the School of Optometry and Associate Dean of Science at the University of Waterloo where he also became a Distinguished Professor Emeritus this year. His primary teaching responsibilities were anterior segment eye disease, systemic disease, and supervision in the Ocular Disease Clinic.
Dr. Cullen is a past-president of the American Academy of Optometry. He serves as an advisor to optometric organizations and universities in the Netherlands, Sweden, Germany, Malaysia, India and Nepal. He continues to act as a consultant to government agencies and industry. Dr. Cullen is an expert reviewer on optical radiation effects on the eye for both the United Nations and the World Health Organization. He is now the World Council of Optometry Co-Chair of the Legislative and Standards Committee, and Chair of the Global Commission on Ophthalmic Standards.
Dr. Cullen has spent forty years researching ocular circulation and angiography, contact lenses, and non-ionizing radiation effects. He has published extensively and lectured internationally.
