Retina South Africa is represented on the AMD Alliance International Board of Directors by Ms Claudette Medefindt.

Claudette Medefindt has been National Secretary of Retina South Africa since 1982. She is also Director for Science and serves as Secretary to the Scientific and Medical Advisory Board to Retina South Africa. She is a member of the Management Committee of Retina International. She is a past member of the Executive Committee of the South African National Council of the Blind.

In South Africa, Ms. Medefindt has lectured extensively on Retinal Degenerative Disorders and research progress into finding treatments for Retinal Blindness. As a person with Retinitis Pigmentosa who is also a trained counselor, she is uniquely qualified to counsel newly diagnosed patients.
